The contemporary design of a curved or tapered wood base are the most popular models. They continue the flow from the floor and allow for the best angle for one-way mirror glass placement. The designs are well thought out and the most elegant. They are easily movable, as wheels can be hidden under the base or exposed for brakes. There are no legs to act as a tripping hazard.
Because the base is tapered it is easiest used for a mechitza without corners, although a variety of corner solutions have been nicely employed for use at any angle. Keep in mind, they take a larger footprint than legs, so the best choice if you have the room. The base needs about 18″ for best stability with wheels.
Additional options could include shelving on one side or sliding windows.
